DIY Leak Detection Survey

• Turn off all your taps and other water-using fixtures to make sure that no water is running.

• Locate your council water meter and see if the meter is turning when no water is used.

• If the meter is still turning, check toilets by holding a piece of toilet paper at the back of the toilet pan to see if there is water flowing.

POOL LEAK DETECTION WITH ADVANCED LEAK DETECTION EQUIPMENT

Thanks to state of the art technology most pool or spa leaks can be found and repaired without major disruption.

You should expect to pay about R 850 to R 1280 per hour (excluding VAT) for high-tech pool leak detection.

LEAK DETECTION WITH THERMAL IMAGING

Detecting leaks in a shower on the pipe running between the shower mixer and the Rose.

The use of Thermal imaging puts a new edge on leak detection. A burst pipe can be located behind obstacles.

Hot water pipes are clearly visible as the pipes run behind wall mounted objects. Burst pipes are also clearly visible where the water seeps into the walls.

THERMAL IMAGE APPLICATIONS

Infrared photography highlights the warmer and the colder surface areas which can be researched on infrared imaging. We are able to use thermal imaging technology to establish the source of many problems and in many applications, where a difference in heat will give an accurate indication to a potential water leak source.

LEAK DETECTION WITH INFRARED RADIOMETRIC PIPELINE TESTING

Infrared thermographic pipeline testing has shown itself to be both accurate and efficient in locating subsurface pipeline leaks, voids caused by erosion, deteriorated pipeline insulation and poor backfill.

When a pipeline leak has allowed a fluid such as water to form a plume near a pipeline, the fluid has a thermal conductance different from the dry soil or backfill.

This will be reflected in different surface temperature patterns above the leak location.

GPS TRACKING

This allows us to do the mapping out the exact location of services via satellite giving utility location & mapping out a new edge.

The CORS system provides an accurate reference station service to our crews, as well as providing data for post processing.

Several reference stations are linked together providing a reference station network, increasing our area of coverage.

The advanced Zephyr Geodetic™ dual-frequency antenna with a built-in ground plane provides advanced tracking capabilities and sub-millimeter phase centre stability for the highest geodetic precision, exceeding the performance of the D&M L1/L2 Choke Ring antenna putting you first in mapping utilities.

GPR UTILITY MAPPING & LEAK DETECTION

Using the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), a multi purpose tool equipped with suitable antennas it can be used for almost any subsurface utility engineering or locating project by detecting non-metallic or non-conductive utilities such as PVC or other plastics, concrete, terracotta, and more.

SERVICES CCTV INSPECTIONS & CLEANING

When doing smaller sewer and storm water lines maintenance the Rigid KJ2200 is ideal, especially for pre-camera inspections. We often need to clear the drain first before we actually inspect it!!

The use of high pressure jetting is in a class of its own especially on industrial sites where silt and slime has built up. The use of electromechanical does not work everywhere, so a combination of machines does the trick!!

PLASTIC PIPE LOCATION

Locating plastic pipes is one of our specialties as we located this plastic pipe at a complex in Johannesburg 17th June 2009. In plastic pipe location 3 systems are used to check each other as piping is NON Conductive.

TRACER GAS

Using tracer gas for leak location is based on the proven method of locating leakages in marsh gas pipe lines with electronic gas tracing instruments.

To locate a leakage, the pipe line to be examined is filled with tracer gas, which exits at the leakage and is accurately located on the surface.

METAL DETECTOR

During the process of logging water flow rates, pressures and leak detection the location of valves on plastic as well as fibre cement utilities is imperative, the quick location is made possible by the use of the Sew Erin Ferrite 350 Deep Cover Metal Detector we use these and other products to aid in our work.

LEAK DETECTION ON PIPE NETWORKS

The recent advances in the new technology of acoustic noise logging and the operational benefits it can bring have been recognised by many of the major water companies as they look carefully at how this new technology can be deployed to further reduce their leakage levels.

LOW WATER PRESSURE?

Poor water flow could be caused by a possible leak both within the building and in the water mains. We will do a complete test of your plumbing and establish a solution to your problem.

PIPE LOCATION IN CLUSTER DEVELOPMENTS

Here we locate the sewer lines to find out where the water is going through the gardens, over the walls, around corners and past normal thinking that is fenced in by complacency. By embracing technology and having a passion for diagnostics we have successfully solved thousands of pipe problems.
